Elmbridge Crossroads Saturday Club was set up in 1999 for families within the borough who have children with disabilities.
Each Saturday, children attend the Club and participate in various activities ranging from Arts & Crafts to playing with toys. They are supervised by the dedicated Play Workers who help the Club run smoothly. Each Play Worker is designated a certain number of children for that day and therefore it is their responsibility to ensure their care needs are met and that they enjoy themselves.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:-
· To relieve the stress of a person or a family who are responsible for the care of a child with a disability.
· To supplement and complement, not to replace, existing statutory services.
· To strive to maintain a high standard of care.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM IT?
If you are caring constantly at home for a child who has a disability e.g mental, physical etc, from the age of 5-19, we shall do our utmost to help you, even if you are already getting help from other services.
HOW DO I GET HELP FROM CROSSROADS?
Contact our Scheme Manager and we will arrange for the Co-ordinator of the Club to visit you at home and assess whether the Scheme can help. If we are able to help, an introduction day and time will be set up so that you as a parent(s) are able to come along to the Club with or with out your child and see the service that is being offered. The Scheme Manager is always available to give you any help or advice you may require.
HOW OFTEN CAN I GET HELP?
This can be varied to meet your needs. On average, the Co-ordinator tries to give each family one session per month. Usually session dates are booked up to 3 months in advance, to give the Carers plenty of opportunity to plan ahead.
Crossroads works on planned care and cannot offer a crisis or emergency service.
WHO ARE THE PLAY WORKERS?
A Saturday Club Play Worker is carefully chosen and trained before working at the Club. They are also police checked before they start work with Crossroads. A Play Worker is someone who is sensitive to your role and expertise as a Carer and can replace you on a temporary basis to enable you to take a break.
WHERE DOES THE CLUB MEET?
The Club meets at Burview Hall, Queens Road, Weybridge. Surrey.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Elmbridge Crossroads is a registered charity and is financed by different sources. The Saturday Club however charges a small amount of money for each session given. The cost of each session is currently £10.00. This is paid in advance when dates have been arranged. Each session begins at 10.00 and ends at 16.00.
All staff members who work for Crossroads are paid employees of the charity.
Donations and contributions are always welcomed and needed to supplement the care hours provided and should be sent to :-
