More about crossroads Minimize

Its aims and objectives are to:

  • To help relieve the stress of the Carer or family who are responsible for the care of the person with a disability or illness.
  • To avoid admission to hospital or residential care of such a person with a disability or illness, should a breakdown or other difficult situation occur in the house-hold.
  • To supplement and complement, not to replace, existing statutory services and to work closely with them.
  • To strive to maintain a high standard of care.

Who Can Benefit?

If you are caring constantly at home for someone who is frail or has a disability/illness, whatever their age, we will do our utmost to help you, even if you are already getting help from other services.

How Do I Get Help From Crossroads?

Email, telephone or use the online form and the Scheme Manager will arrange to visit you at home and assess whether the scheme can help. If we are able to help, a Carer Support Worker will be introduced to you when the service starts. The Scheme Manager or her assistant are always available at the scheme centre to give you advise.

How Often Can I Get Help

This can be varied to meet your needs. You may need a Carer Support Worker for a couple of hours, on a planned, regular, weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis, or perhaps on an occasional basis. The Carer Support Workers work during the day, evening and at weekends.Crossroads works on planned care and cannot offer a crisis or emergency service.

Who Are The Carer Support Workers?

A Carer Support Worker is carefully chosen and trained before working in your home. They are also police checked before they start work with Crossroads.

A Carer Support Worker is someone who is sensitive to your role and expertise as a carer and can replace you on a temporary basis and enable you to take a break.

How Much Does It Cost?

Elmbridge Crossroads – Caring for Carers provides a free service.
It is a registered charity, is financed by different sources, including Health & Social Services and is regulated by The Commission for Social Care Inspection.

The Scheme Manager, office staff and Carer Support Workers are paid employees of the charity.Donations and contributions are always welcomed and needed to supplement the care hours provided.
